Cascais is a small city located on the outskirts of Lisbon. Once a fishing village and defence outpost, the royalty transformed it into a stylish summer resort. Mixing beautiful beaches, elegant mansions, imposing fortifications, and a wide variety of hotels, Cascais is a great option for every season.
King Luís II used the city as his summer residence from 1870 to 1908, attracting other celebrities, and changing the destiny of the tranquil village forever. Modern roads and railway lines linking to Lisbon and Sintra were built, as well as a casino and other facilities. Some of the best hotels and 5-star resorts in Cascais date back to these times.
Nowadays, the town is a cosmopolitan beach retreat along the Estoril Coast, where people from Lisbon and other Portugal cities come for a day or weekend escapade. Many foreign tourists prefer its more relaxed hotels over the sometimes hectic Lisbon atmosphere.
Don’t miss the Citadel, rebuilt during the 16th century in a typical star-shaped Renaissance style. Other attractions include the Museum of the Sea and the ‘Paula Rego House of Stories’.
Beach hotels are the gem of Cascais and you can find a wide range on Booking.com. Check your availability with enough time in advance, as the city remains a popular summer destination.
I am very disappointed. The apartment is nothing like the photos...old and smelly. Very low maintenance to the property. There was a mole at the bathroom and a lot of Flys at the bath and washroom. The smell was awful of some very harsh cleaning liquid mixed with mole smell. They just took a very poor condition apartment and painted everything in white but it is still old and smelly ...painted the mole as well but you could still see and smell it

I love Cascais!
I love Cascais! There are many things to do here and nearby locations too. Great restaurants, shopping, beautiful parks, nature walks, cafes, museums, outdoor markets and not far from Cascais are the palaces of Sintra and even a Moorish castle. There is a train station in Cascais with trains that go directly into Lisbon in about 25 minutes. Without hesitation i recommend a visit to this beautiful city. I think you will love it too!

Cascais is a beautiful area.
Cascais is a beautiful area. Easily one of the most prettiest places we have stayed in. A beautiful beach, shops, restaurants and an array of beautiful buildings. Easy to pop on the train to Lisbon which took 40 mins and worth the few euros it cost. We visited in Nov so the weather wasn't hot but we had a lovely warm breeze plus a few showers but you expect that at that time of year.
Dream Guinho is an incredibly impressive hotel. Despite my familiarity with the area, I was pleasantly surprised by its beautiful wooden design. The staff is exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and well-trained. Everything is perfectly arranged, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. I wish I could have stayed longer to fully enjoy the hotel. The rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable, offering a breathtaking view of the Malvera mountains and Guincho beach. The breakfast provided was both delicious and plentiful.
Casa Vela is a beautiful little hotel tucked away in a residential street just a few moments away from the city center of Cascais. The facilities are exceptionally well maintained and the garden out the back is a little oasis of tranquility. The staff were exceptionally attentive throughout our entire stay and were able to cater to any and every request we had, however big or small. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more, I will definitely be back.
Choosing this pleasant and luxury hotel for my birthday celebration was absolutely a success: The receptionists, being friendly and helpful (switching smoothly from one language to another) are very impressive; the bread at the breakfast was the best one could desire for and the Menu of the Chef at dinner was very innovative and delicious. All the arrangements made for the birthday were very pleasant and heartwarming.
Superb breakfast: huge choice, fresh fruit, pastries, local cheeses, excellent selection of bread, yogurt, cooked options.
We loved the pool areas: relaxing, clean, fresh towels provided.
The staff were incredibly friendly, whatever their role.
The art and reading area in the hotel gives it a special something.
Very close to the centre of Cascais. Great views, easy walk to stunning places.
Breakfast was really good! The hotel room was very clean and the staff was always available. We (two teen girls travelling alone) felt very safe and comfortable. The hotel is very close to the train station and it’s easy to reach Lisbon in about 30 minutes by train. The location was great, in the centre of Cascais, everything at walking distance
Beautifully renovated hotel, in one of the best streets of Cascais, close to restaurants, shops and beach.
Very modern and comfortable rooms.
Flexible and customer oriented Manager who accepted to change my dates as I made a mistake when booking my room.
Thanks again!
Looking forward to coming back.
I liked everything about this Hotel; from the staff, the breakfast, the comfy beds, great size room with a balcony over the outside pool area and ocean view, free parking. Walking distance to the heart of Cascais and across the street from the beach. My family enjoyed a wonderful time at this Hotel.
A beautiful hotel with superb facilities and lovely, attentive and super helpful staff, breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, the location was excellent, within easy walking distance of the town and fabulous beaches and a short train ride to Lisbon, highly recommend.
It’s a beautiful house in an amazing location. Most of the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Mara gave us many tips not just for Cascais but even for Lisbon and other parts of Portugal! The breakfast was awesome, everything fresh and organic.
Location is great you’re close to the harbor, city center and beach. The decor is beautiful and fresh as they stated last September. It’s a boutique hotel with a personal feel and service. Loved the place almost next door for drinks & food.
The hotel views were spectacular. The room was large, comfortable with view of the beach. Breakfast area has the best views. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Definitely a highlight to any trip.
Beautiful setting on golf course. Balcony on each bedroom overlooking golf course.
Stunning pool area & view.
