Bidart is a fascinating small town - with its very sprecial basque architecture. Houses lookung kind of Tirolean, I must say. In summer time, quite a lot tourists and surfers, but though; not too many - at least not in the beginning of July.

Bidart is a beautiful beach town that is very popular for surfers. This is town borders Biarritz (walking possible but a longer walk, driving within in 10 minutes) which also has a daily market to fill all fresh food needs. Bidart has more space to move around than neighboring tourist cities: walk on trails, paths that accommodate bikes and beaches, lots of green and ocean space. It is common to see small campers in parking lots (usually surfers) near beaches. This is our second time in Bidart and we are returning next year. The people who work in this area are relaxed and friendly. There are good quality bakeries, a prepared food shop (closed on Monday) that is very fair priced, many days there is a fruit and vegetable seller outside of this shop, supermarket with plenty of parking and an organic supermarket, with an easy to access gas station, a pharmacy, and is walkable throughout. There are many places to park (beach parking in major beaches and other parking) that is no cost. There are many neighboring towns that are easy drives or walks (some long, some shorter). It is easy to rent bikes in the Bidart center of town and many are now e-bikes. We usually go in May when tourism isn't as high, but there are still many people visiting due to the great surfing venue. We find that Bidart food prices are very fair as well.

Bidart is a calmer area than Biarritz, for example, or St. Jean de Luz. It is also much more affordable. The people of Basque are kind, helpful, and neighborly. We rented a house and it was very affordable. But we also rented a hotel (my husband stayed for work) on the beach (I wish I could have stayed with him). Bidart is an easy drive to Biarritz and other larger areas. Bidart has safe walking throughout. All amenities are available (could walk... a bit longer, can drive too): local bakery, local butcher, supermarket, pharmacy... Smaller market on Saturdays (limited food options, but can drive only 15 minutes to Biarritz market that opens every day). Bidart is centrally located to allow for easy driving to many areas. Traffic is less hectic in Bidart than larger areas. Children were still in school when we visited... love seeing families walking their children to school, coming home from lunch... We will be back.

Good location for sea, lakes and mountains.
Good location for sea, lakes and mountains. Parking a little difficult when going to one of the many reasonably priced restaurants. Plenty of supermarkets and Spain is only a short distance away, if and when they let you in and out again. Explore the towns on foot to discover the "old towns" which have a plethora of history, interest and food.

Great destination with a wide choice of accommodation and restaurants. The old town is special but difficult to visit by car due to one way systems and parking. The beach is sensational and it is possible to walk dogs on the Northern Beach. Start or end of season are the best times.
Fabulous aparthotel, perfectly located in a quiet area within easy reach of the major attractions. Bidart itself shouldn’t be overlooked, it’s a pretty little place with a wonderful beach. The facilities in the hotel were first rate, lovely pool and gardens. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on food. The owners were super helpful and let me know immediately that I had left something behind in the studio room, then agreeing to forward it on to me. If we return to the area we wouldn’t stay anywhere else
The view from the room was amazing: direct view on a beautiful beach with Bidart in a background. Step out of your room straight onto the beach, within walking distance of the beach and cozy city center of Bidart. Plenty of nice places close by to reach on foot or by car. Staff was friendly and room well sized for two persons (could be tight if all three beds are used). Restaurant has good food.
Stunning authentic French period property.
Attention to detail is impressive.
This really is a 5 star experience.
Extremely comfortable and quiet.
Secure parking.
If you like modern contemporary corporate style hotels this is not for you.
hoping to divert on my return journey if time permits for another night.
Zero stairs from the entrance to the room: 1,2,7&8 share that feature. The staff managed to transform a hotel that usually had a beach feel to a cozy holiday chalet virtually overnight. Breakfast (13€) featured excellent gâteau basque cerise and brebis cheese. Solid dinner choices were but a short walk away.
The accommodation is well located, the facilities seem relatively recent and reasonable for camping. We like to enjoy contact with nature and the peace and silence that that place offers. We also liked the fact that reception did not charge us for late check out.
A bit far from main towns, a car is needed but that was what we were looking for.

Our room was big, bathroom is big too and very clean.
Enjoyed the balcony to hear the birds.
Nice parking in front of the hotel, 650 m walk from the beautiful beach Ilbarritz.
Tennis court (6 euro for 1 hour was added to our bill everytime we played, they took it off when we complained about the costs).
Ground floor apartment with access to garden for kids to run around
Pool and waterslides - fun for kids
Easy access to beaches
Easy access to Biarritz and other towns
Away from the main camp
Charming cottage style hotel. The room was super comfortable with a nice bathroom. They make breakfast with veggies and herbs fresh from the garden. Staff was really nice - zero complaints!
The whole guest house has a very nice vibe, cool and relaxed interior, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is super right on the little square of Bidart.
