It is a grand old building. Staff were helpful. We were able to leave our luggage for the day after checking out.

As pilgrims we really enjoyed the comfort and price for the room. Also the possibility of using the kitchen was great. It is worth mentioning that there were two lovely cats in the flat.
This hotel is a former palatial home dating back to the 18th century, situated close to Arena Beach and 20 minutes' drive from central Bilbao.

We have been using this hotel for 8 years. And it always meets our expectations on cleanliness, comfort and welcome. Will carry on using it as it is ideal for getting the ferry from Bilbao.
Hotel Artaza is set in 14,000 m² of parkland and gardens, in the Santa María area of Getxo. The hotel's popular restaurant serves creative Basque food. Rooms at the hotel are spacious and comfortable....

I Liked the location of the hotel, set on an island in the river. The location was quiet, although there is a lot of building development close bye, but the double glazing in the hotel was excellent and you could not hear any outside noise when the windows were closed. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the shops, bars/cafes, metro, etc. There is an excellent bar/café right next door to the hotel providing hot and cold drinks, tapas and snacks. The hotel itself does not provide meals, but there is a free hot drinks machine for use in the mornings and late afternoon/evening. There is also a vending machine that takes cash for snacks, etc. The hotel has a large lift to all floors. The room was of a good size and I did have a chance to upgrade for a price, but I choose not to. The double bed was very comfy, there was a desk and chair, bedside tables, a comfortable arm chair, wall mounted TV and a phone for internal calls only. The bathroom and shower was of a good size and towels were provided. Everything was clean and modern despite the building being established. The hotel is family run with the owners living at the premises. On check-in you are given a does and don'ts sheet which was very useful and check-out was easy, just depositing the key in the box provided just outside the check-in desk. The hotel is fully secure with CCTV and a swipe card to gain access to the hotel and your room. I will return to Bilbao and will definitely use this hotel again.

We only stayed for the night as we were on a road trip, but it was a pleasant discovery. Nice town, great food. We enjoyed the architecture and the nice atmosphere in the city center. Very lively in the streets, coffee places and restaurants, even if it was in the middle of the winter.

I was not a fan of the location where the hotel was.
I was not a fan of the location where the hotel was. It was not Santurce and not really anywhere definate. Nice looking hotel but needs some work on it. Loos as if it might be struggling to keep going.
Because of the noise problem after a lot of asking- they eventually gave us a different room on a different floor.
The lady at the desk was lovely but she said she was not able to contact the manager at the weekend and she had no one to turn to with our complaint of no sleep. She changed our rooms but we had to stay out of the hotel until after 3pm when the new room would be ready.
She removed the car parking charge when we left as a nice gesture. parking was free on the roads on Sundays anyway but it was a nice gesture.
A better room and a good nicghts sleep on the first night would have been preferable. Had a wonder 28 days travelling in home stays and variety of hotels and villas around France and Spain. This was the most disappointing. Will not return.

We would like to have had the opportunity to have stayed a little longer but from the little that we saw it appeared to be a thriving and bustling town with interesting places to visit. There are plenty of bars with a great choice of pintxos ( Tapas ) .

Santurce is a small town with very good public transport.
Santurce is a small town with very good public transport. There are plenty of bars and places to eat around as well as supermarkets. It is situated on the main Bilbao metro system which gives easy access to all the beauty of the seaside resorts around you. I used Santurce as a place to stay so that I could visit friends and family in Las Arenas and Getxo.

excellent for transport - rail, metro and buses all within a few minutes' walk meant you could be exactly where you wanted to be in Bilbao with the minimum of inconvenience. we were there to see family in Sestao and so we ate in various places around the area and had very good value for money.
We had room 601 which also has a huge terrace with outside sunbeds , table and chairs offering spectular views over the harbour
comfortable room with an excellent bathrom
On site underground parking with lift to the hotel- not pre bookable limited space - early arrival needed
Only 15 mins form the ferry port
Uber/taxi or subway to the centre - avoided having to drive through middle of bilboa- would probably still be there!!
Excellent location . Close to the metro. The area around Bilbao and Bilbao itself are amazing. Parking is super safe . Lift to the rooms and reception. Breakfast was good value. Very clean . We arrived very early and the staff accommodated us. Helpful information from the staff. The port is only 5 minutes drive away. This was our second visit. The sports bar underneath the hotel and the supermarket are excellent.
The hotel staff and cleaning people are very nice. The view is spectacular but the hotel is located next to a train station and the noise is very annoying. The rooms could use a lick of paint and the windows need a washing from the outside. A 3 star rating would fit the hotel better. It’s not close to the centre of Bilbao (10km) but the metro and train obviously are. I won’t stay here again due to the noise.
A very pleasant hotel with plenty of room... a little tired in some places but suited us very well. Situated in a suburb of Bilbao, it gave us reason not to just stick in the city centre. Lots going on on the river. Good connections ... metro & rail into the city and the motorway on a couple of miles away. Breakfast was excellent and parking conveniently under the hotel.
Our room was on floor 5 with a balcony & harbour view. This floor also includes reception, with most rooms on lower floors. Garage on floor 3 is ideal as street parking is very limited. Restaurant and bar on floor 4 had great food and view over harbour. Access to the ferry port was easy and only some 5 km. Hotel was very clean and our room was well appointed.
The overall experience for the price was great! The parking was very handy right below the hotel with straight access to the rooms from elevator. Staff was super friendly and they answered all of our questions patiently regarding covid restrictions in the city. They even prepared some city leaflets and a map with tips before our arrival. 100% suggested!!
The breakfast was very good . The location was excellent . The staff were really helpful and nice . We would highly recommend this hotel as it’s a great stop over for the ferry from Bilbao . They have a private car park which we used to safely park our motorbike . It’s a short walk into town or you can take the bus which stops outside the hotel .
This exceeded our expectations. A wonderful experience. Our premium room had a large terrace overlooking the ocean. The hotel was very welcoming to our two dogs. Leaving a bowl and dog treats for them. It's a beautiful hotel with friendly and professional staff. We will definitely go again. Thank you.
the location very close to the port, the staff very helpful and friendly
shops and coffees very available in the area , free breakfast included. free street parking available around the area where u can park your car or use the hotel parking for some charges.
The staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was included and perfectly delightful. It's an older hotel so it's not the shiniest but it was a safe, cozy place to start my Basque adventure.
Location to the train station and underground station in Peñota.
Decent breakfast, parking facility at reduced price for motorcycles.
Close to Bilbao port for early sailing.
Staff were incredibly helpful. Dinner on the terrace was superb, food, service all great. Location was good we went for a lovely walk in the evening just 5 mins from hotel
