Hotel Cocoliso Island Resort, hotel in Isla Grande

Located in Islas del Rosario, a 1-hour boat ride from Cartagena, Hotel Cocoliso features a restaurant, an outdoor pool. The resort offers panoramic sea views and free Wi-Fi in public areas.

For what we paid, it was fine. If I had paid more than 375 USD for 3 nights I would have been upset - The pool was huge and the right temperature - The barman Ever was really nice and helpful - The room had AC and one big comfy bed BUT it was not what we had booked. - You can stay here for cheap and then go next door to a nice beach and spend your time there. They have good food and drinks at much better prices on a stunning beach. It's a 4 min walk from the hotel. Isla Rosario Del Mar.

Hotel Sunsets del Rosario, hotel in Isla Grande

Hotel Sunsets del Rosario has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Isla Grande.

Absolutely incredible spot. Crystal clear water (albeit some trash below the waves), relaxing in cabanas with great food and drink, and exploring the island (don't miss village life in Orika). The bioluminscent tour was truly memorable, as were the otherworldly mangroves and exploring other islands nearby with Luis Filipe (fantastic tour guide; highly recommend!).

Loved the quiet and elegant boutique hotel vibe.

Loved the quiet and elegant boutique hotel vibe. The hotel was full of really lovely interesting guests and the staff were really welcoming and attentive. We loved our stay there as quiet interlude to the fast pace of Cartagena. If you're looking for party vibe then Coralina is not for you (head to Bora Bora). If you're looking for beautiful island shabby-chic luxury then Coralina is perfect.

Incredible place to rest, away from the tiresome sellspeople that crowd Playa Blanca and Barú offering from massages to wrist bands. Here you can actually REST, and do whatever you want to do, snorkeling, kayaking reading. Even work, if you must, the wifi connection was great at the hostel we stayed. You can easily walk the island or do a round trip vía Kayak (3-4 hours aprox). The Mangle are really beautiful and that's a nice tour to have. The little village of Orika (1500 ppl) is really nice and peple are very kind with tourists. There were 2-3 restaurants that I can remember, but none looked tempting so we stayed with the Hostel restaurant for health sake. No need to improvise. :) It's a small island perfect for introspection and sea sports as mentioned before. I'd say it's a mandatory visit if you go to Cartagena (hey, you can even sacrifice Playa Blanca without loosing too much, if you must prune a few days of your stay), but definitely try to visit the island. We travelled with 3 kids aged 16, 13 and 12. and 3 nights at the hostel hit the spot for them. More would have been a little too much for them.

This is the furthest island and honestly there’s nothing to do here. Specifically at this hotel, there was only two lawn chairs where the sun actually reached and the rest were always in the shade. And the two that were in sun were always occupied. The one time we did get to sit in them, the dock it’s on was not sturdy or secure. In fact the board under the chair broke as my friend was laying in it!! And the chair leg went towards the water. The hotel itself had no beach so you had to walk 20 minutes to get there and it was not easily accessible by any means. All the other beaches were private and you had to pay for. They offered theee excursions - I can’t speak to one. But the other two were scams.

It felt really remote but with everything you needed (be prepared, no A/C. The Caipirinhas are FANTASTIC how they make them. Kayaks pull up with cocktails from outside vendors. Adds a fun element. Most nights they offered something to do after the day trippers left.

This is an island that is completely run for the profits of...

This is an island that is completely run for the profits of the beach resorts who cater almost exclusively to the day-trippers from Cartagena. This means that if you are not in one of these resorts your access to much of the island is restricted. For the most part, there are no evident access points into the interior of the island from these resorts and we found ourselves entering through service entrances to try to get the coast, or a bar and were often found trespassing. Some of these resorts are more welcoming than others and some charge an entry fee for non-guests. However, many of these resorts don't seem to have overnight guests and, therefore, shut up shop after 4pm so there is little-to-no evening activity on the island (and no street lights, so make sure to have a torch with you) There are some fun and interesting activities to do on the island - enough to fill a day, but the limited access when staying there meant that we were very ready to leave after two nights.

    Great for relaxing.

Great for relaxing. Warning to all those who love the ubiquitous and annoying Colombian music - no music is allowed in any part of Coralina Island! You will enjoy the silence, the sound of the sea waves and the chirping of the birds. The owner of the hotel, a French-Colombian named Pierre, is a wonderful person. Thanks to him, his kind nature and willingness, we felt like we were visiting a good friend or family member. Barbora, a Czech living in Colombia.

    - The food was amazing - Margarita and Karolina, and all the other staff, were so incredibly friendly and helpful - They were able to organize a bunch of activities for us, including a trip to the bioluminescent lagoon, scuba, and trips through the mangroves. Just tell them what you want to do and they'll figure it out! - The hotel facilities were all very eco friendly, built by hand, and felt very blended in to the landscape. - Unlike most hotels on the island, they have their own little sandy beach

The hotel was great, Pierre, the host was ever gracious, friendly, and extremely welcoming. The hotel is located on a small mangroves island on the far southwest part of Baru. The breakfasts were all wonderful, made to order , fresh, and the servers were all amazing and friendly. The same goes for lunch and dinner. The sunbeds and swimming area were all wonderful, quiet, and relaxing. We stayed for 5 nights and it was wonderful.

We had an amazing stay here! Isleta is very quiet and laid back, with some good options to spend the day at the beach at another hotel 5 mins from this one (for example Coralina hotel) while staying and eating at this way cheaper accomodation with good and clean rooms (more like huts). It even has a deck with nice sun beds to go into the water from, you could easily spend an entire day at this accomodation itself as well.

Everything, the place is super beautiful, the sea is just out of this world! The staff is amazing, especially Yuri, a very nice guy. There only 6 rooms on the hotel, after 3 pm (time the tours leave) the hotel becomes really intimate and super nice. During the day, there is loud music and beautiful sun. At night, the music is ambient and calm. The food is good and drinks also. The pool area is simply amazing!

Excellent eco-resort with comfortable rooms and super kind and friendly staff. Directly on the ocean, with snorkeling right out front. Lots of comfy hammocks (per the name). Well located: the village is a 15-minute walk through the jungle, and we also walked over to a neighboring resort one night for dinner. Note that the Mary tourist boat from Cartagena will drop and collect you right on the resort's own pier.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Although we didnt speak Spanish and many of the staff didn't speak English, they always did their best to help us with what we needed. There are amazing diving and snorkeling opportunities nearby and trips are run by Diving Planet, based out of the resort. The pool and beach right at the resort were amazing, just what we needed to relax and be by the water.

Overall this is a good hotel. The room is comfortable and spacious. I felt the hotel didn't live to the hype however, the beach was nice but not amazing, the food is underwhelming for a hotel of this standing. Staff is great. I feel you can find way better experiences in Isla grande or the surrounding much cheaper. Overall Gente de Mar is very expensive for what it is.

The food is good and has to be ordered in advance a couple of hours before each meal. The resort offers several complementary activities organised by locals (scuba diving, spa, plankton excursion, walking tour etc). The cocktails were also very good. The hotel organises a transfer by boat from and to Cartagena which was also nice and smooth. Each room has a hammock.

The hosts Carlos and Viviana are super nice and very friendly. They also speak very good English which is so helpful since I still struggle with Spanish. We could easily upgrade to a lovely cabana which had no shower but the big bucket gets refilled every day. The eco hotel relies on solar which makes it quiet: no noisy generator!
